family group tree automatically changes to family search tree
I am tired of when i add a research help source, when i am in my personal family tree, and once done and it keeps automatically going back to the family search tree even though i have selected the personal family tree to be my default tree. so if i don't remember to check which tree I am in, I find I am adding living people in the family search tree, then having to readd that person to my private tree as they are living, so other family members can see them. I can not add the ID of the living person in family search tree into the personal tree
I have tired going back to a previous open page of the personal tree and refreshing that person but it still defaults back to the family search tree
I have also found that people I follow, one day they are related to me, yet when i go back to complete the family, they are no longer related to me. very confusing and annoying
Hope some one can help, i have emailed support numerous times, no-one seems to understand what i am asking and i get unrelated advise

If you refresh dead person that is connected to the wiki tree, it is most definitely correctly going to appear in that wiki tree when you click on them. That is the nature of a wiki tree. It is supposed to work this way.
I have a sneaking suspicion you are not always logged in, and this is what is causing your problems.

@VerenaBlock the various FamilySearch trees do not live in any sort of wiki (the FS Research Wiki is completely separate), and are unrelated to the WikiTree website, so can you clarify your point please?

Are you working in a FS User Tree or Group Tree?There is a dedicated group for feedback for User Trees. There have been some reports of accidental switching between the platforms.
@MandyShaw1 "wiki" is often used generically to describe a collaborative project. For example, Wikipedia or WikiTree - anyone can contribute.

From the behavior you describe, I would guess that you are talking about a Family Group Tree when you refer to "my personal family tree," since I can easily duplicate what you are saying in that context. When I am on a Family Group Tree, and I use the source linker to attach a source to a deceased person, when I have completed that process and return to the person that I was working on (by clicking the View [person] button at the top of the source linker), I am returned to that person in the FamilySearch Tree, not in the Family Group Tree that I was first working on. This is the button I am using:
Of course, since this is a deceased person, it is the exact same profile whether I am in the context of the Family Group Tree or the FamilySearch Tree — that profile resides in the public part of Family Tree that is shared between the FGT and the FST. But the significant problem is that my context was changed from the FGT to the FST without me choosing that context change, and with no notice. So unless I look carefully at the upper left corner where the tree selector shows the current context, I may very well not be aware of the context change. And then I run the danger of doing work on living persons and thinking I'm still in the FGT when I am now in the FST.
This same behavior seems unlikely to happen with a User Tree, since every person profile there is in the same context of the User Tree, whether living or deceased. I've personally never seen this unexpected context switch for User Trees, and I've done the exact same steps as described above where the context switch always happens for Family Group Trees.

To answer some of the questions, 1. VerenaBlock, I am always logged into family search, I am not using any type of wiki tree. 2. Alan E Brown, you get what I am talking about but my question is what is a user tree? how do i make one? I thought the only other option was a family group tree, but that is where i am having the problems. I think it needs to be passed on to the IT team as this is an error that should be fixed. Have you also had trouble with people that you follow being related one day but not the next?

Let's limit this discussion to the topic noted in the title of the discussion: "family group tree automatically changes to family search tree." Family Group Tree context unexpectedly changes to FamilySearch Tree
As I noted in my first comment, I can duplicate this problem. I have flagged this to be reported as a bug. Hopefully I provided enough details that the engineers can work on it. I suspect it is a rather difficult problem to solve, so I wouldn't expect an immediate fix, but since it is an ongoing source of confusion for many users, I hope that it will become a priority to fix.
User Trees
This topic entered the discussion because @Áine.ní.Donnghaile wondered in this comment if you might be talking about User Trees, which was certainly a reasonable question based on the original post. You have confirmed that you are not, so this is now very much a side issue. Then @Nyx773 then explained that User Trees are not widely available (which I'm very aware of — I only mentioned User Trees in my first comment to explain that I didn't think it was the topic of the original question). In any case, any further discussion of User Trees should be in a separate conversation, which could be in the dedicated User Trees Feedback group.
"Wiki Tree" terminology and staying logged in
In this comment, @VerenaBlock called the Family Tree a "wiki tree," which led to some temporary confusion, but @Áine.ní.Donnghaile helpfully clarified that this was just a term for the collaborative tree. And you have confirmed that there is no issue with not staying logged in. So I think we can end that line of inquiry.
Followed profiles sometimes appear as unrelated
In the original post, you noted "…people I follow, one day they are related to me, yet when i go back to complete the family, they are no longer related to me" and then in this comment you followed up with "Have you also had trouble with people that you follow being related one day but not the next?" Point 6 in the Code of Conduct says "If you need to change topics, begin a new post." So this is a reasonable question, but should be in a separate post.
