I am hoping someone might be willing to check the book They Died at Fort Delaware, 1861–1865: Confederate, Union and Civilian for information on Franklin Brissey (FamilySearch ID: GHR9-RR6).

I know that Franklin Brissey was held as a prisoner at Fort Delaware, and records indicate that two payments of $5.00 were made on his behalf. I have wondered whether these payments may have been related to his death, but I have been unable to find any additional information about him after that point.

One possibility I have considered is that he died at Fort Delaware and was later reinterred at Finns Point National Cemetery, where many prisoners from Fort Delaware were eventually buried. Historical accounts note that thousands of prisoners died on Pea Patch Island and that many were buried at Finns Point.

If anyone has access to the book or can provide additional information about Franklin Brissey's fate, I would be deeply grateful. I would like to honor his memory by learning what happened to him and, if possible, where he was ultimately laid to rest.

Thank you for any assistance.

I get glimpses into the sheer amount of work that has been done over decades and centuries, concerning the source material that we use for Family History. This 1413 page document, complied by Jocelyn P. Jamison, is one of those glimpses. 😲
