Merging accounts for bio vs adopted family

I don't know if my great uncle was actually adopted but he was taken in by another family after his parents died. He has two profiles because he is in the census and obit of the adoptive family as their son but also has a profile under his bio family. How can these be merged without losing the adoptive info?

For both profiles, mark the parental relationship for all 4 parents.
Select "Biological" for both birth parents.
Since an adoption is unsure, select "Guardianship" with the other 2.
Then the merge should go smoothly.
