What happens to dismissed people on hints

I have two deceased great grandparents from Italy who were recently changed to "dismissed". Does that mean the data and information for them is incorrect, or is this change due to some legal issue? Does the dismissed notation discredit my Family Tree? Thank you.

When you dismiss a hint in Family Tree, you’re simply telling the system that the record does not apply to that person.
It removes the hint from your view and prevents it from reappearing for that profile, but it does not delete the record or affect anyone else’s work.

FamilySearch uses this feature to help keep your research space clear and accurate.
If you dismiss a hint, it’s best to include a short reason such as:

“This record refers to a different individual with the same name.”

That way, other contributors understand your decision if they review the profile later.

In short, “Dismissed” means reviewed and found not relevant — it’s a housekeeping tool, not a permanent deletion.

In this post the OP is referring to hints that are already showing "dismissed," not that the poster has dismissed the hint.

@CFWIII This has been mentioned in a few other threads, apparently arising from those record sets where permissions have been withdrawn after the hint was created.

@CFWIII There always seems to be a period of time between when permissions change on a record and when the hint generator gets updated. Contracts with state archives in Italy changed recently and that is likely what happened to the hints you were not able to use. It does not in any way discredit the person in your tree and we apologize for the confusion.
