Need to merge two profiles

Need to merge two profiles, P6QK-5RQ and P6QV-VHS, both are me. But the information on the "Main Person" profile is incorrect. It won't allow me to switch "Duplicate Person" and "Main Person". The Main Person profile which is P6QV-VHS, has the incorrect "father" and it won't let me remove the relationship.

There is a special profile that is linked to your account. It appears that in addition to that profile, you have created another living profile for yourself. When you are merging another living profile into that profile, the merge can only be done in the direction that preserves that account-linked profile. But generally the direction doesn't particularly matter, so I wouldn't worry about that.

You said "it won't let me remove the relationship." Are you hoping to remove the relationship as part of the merge process, or are you trying to remove the relationship from the profile page? It's no longer allowed to remove relationships during the merge process. But it should be possible to remove the relationship from the profile page in almost all cases.

Could you share more details about how you are trying to remove the relationship, and what you are seeing that leads you to say that it won't let you remove the relationship?

Just an additional note. Since the profile that will be saved is on the right, make sure you replace any of the correct information on the left to the profile on the right. There is either a "replace" prompt or a check box to move the information from left to right.

The biggest issue, which is why I ended up creating a second profile, is that the "father" that is attached to the right (LFCR-PJK, Jose Maria Martinez Hernandez) is incorrect. He isn't my father. But I cannot remove that relationship, it won't let me.

Hi Cicelia Lets see if we can make some sense out of this. When a family search account is created, there is what is call a root person. In reality, it is a root ID for yourself. If you go to "recents" the root ID is always shown at the top of the list. In your case, at the top of your recents list, is the root id of P6QV-VH5. This root ID cannot be deleted by merge which is the reason why you can't switch during the merge.

We need to proceed to get this root ID correct. And all of this has to do with relationships. The only place to correct relationships is on the details tab of a person page. Some people call the person page the profile. Whichever term you like. I always like to get the right relationship first and then remove the wrong relationships. This is what I recommend you do.

1- Go to the person page for your correct father, ID GNPK-JVD. On the details tab, scroll down to the family members section. On the left side, you will see your father and mother with you and your siblings listed below. Go down below you and your siblings and click on add child. Add yourself by ID using your root ID of P6QV-VH5. Yes, I know you are already listed and now you will be listed twice. We will take care of that later on.

2- After you add yourself, go to your person page for your root ID, P6QV-VH5. Go to the family members section. Under the Parents and Siblings on the right, you will see yourself listed as a child of your parents and then as a child of the wrong father. Underneath the wrong father, click on the pencil to the right of your name. You will now see a Parent-Child Relationship form used to edit relationships. You should see the wrong father at the top left, no mother and you underneath. Go below your name and click on remove or replace. Click that you have reviewed relationships at the lower left and then click on remove parents at lower right, Give a reason such as wrong father and click remove.

3- Once you finish step 2, you should be on your person page for your root ID of P6QV-VH5. Now it is time to do the merge. On the far-right side, scroll down to the tools box and select merge by ID. Enter your other profile ID, P6QK-5RQ and complete the merge. Once you finish the merge, everything should be as you want it.

If you have further questions, please let us know, we will be glad to provide further assistance.
