I'm having trouble finding anything on my granny Marie. Supposedly she was either adopted or left somewhere between childhood and teens. I'm trying to figure out if her birth paternal father was Charley Blankenship, I was told by other family members her birth mother was Allie Wesson. However I'm not finding anything to confirm and or deny it. If anyone more Advanced at researching could help I would appreciate it. I can try to supply what little information I know . Thanks in advance.

    Good morning @Samantha VanStory

    I found the profile you created for Ruby Marie Blankenship.
    https://www.familysearch.org/en/tree/person/details/GS2Z-7G3

    Working from the information there, I found the 1929 obituary for Allie Wesson Blankenship, listing her husband, C B Blankenship, and four sons and one daughter: Clyde, Barney, Bill, Jesse, and Marie. https://www.genealogybank.com/nbshare/AC01100711225640281771780477975

    On Allie Wesson Blankenship's death certificate, Clyde Blankenship was the informant, matching the name of one of her sons. https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:K33L-B1R?lang=en

    In the 1930 census, Marie Blankenship, age 5, is living with her widowed father and 4 brothers:
    https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XMT6-KM2?lang=en

    Charles Blankenship died in May 1951 in Abilene, Texas. His obituary lists survivors as Mrs. Marie Highsmith, and three sons, Jessie, Barney, and Clyde, as well as 5 grandchildren.

    I noticed that you have Ruby Marie's birth state listed as Georgia. According to Allie's obituary, the family had been living in Louisiana and then Texas. Marie's place of birth in the 1930 census is listed as Arkansas. Charles was born in Arkansas, as were 3 of his sons. Charles and Allie married in Arkansas in 1900. https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:NMBS-C5T?lang=en The conflict in Marie's place of birth will need to be resolved.

    Hope this helps!

    @Samantha VanStory

    Digging a bit deeper, I also found and attached the 1950 census to Ruby Marie and her husband. That record also shows her state of birth as Arkansas.

    Marie registered for Social Security. You have the index attached to her. You can order her full Social Security application (SS-5) for a reasonable fee. Marie would have completed the application, and it should contain the names of her parents as she entered the information.

    Good instructions for ordering the SS-5 here: https://www.legalgenealogist.com/2024/01/30/ordering-the-ss-5-2024-style/
    With that, you will have primary evidence of her parents' names and her place of birth.

    Best of luck with the search.

    Thank you, Thank you, so much for finding this information all I had most of my life was basic information. I never knew she even had siblings. Till now. It's means the world to me to know more about my grandma. I was 8 years old when she died. So all I had most of my life was what others could tell me.

    Would it be to much to ask if at all possible to research one other person for me. I also only know very limited information about this woman as well she is on my paternal side it was my grandfather's mother's side of the family. Information is pretty conflicting. This woman usually gets mixed up with someone else. If at all possible. I could get you the information I have. Thank you again. Samantha

    @Samantha VanStory absolutely!

    You said "I also only know very limited information about this woman as well she is on my paternal side it was my grandfather's mother's side of the family. Information is pretty conflicting. Please start a new thread for the woman you referenced above, similar to the way you started this one for Ruby Marie.

    Hi, I'm sorry I didn't get back to you right away. My husband was in the hospital for a week. I gathered the information I have on my 3rd great grandmother on my father's side. I have very little information. In my family bible it says her name was Mollie Welch. Born Sept 13, 1848 died about 1865 in junction kimble county texas. She was the first wife of John E. Davis b.1844 d. 1927. I know people are always getting her mixed up with his second wife Rachel taylor gibbs. I know there was a newspaper article out years ago where some cousins were talking about John E. Davis being an Indian agent or tracker or something like that. I'm just wondering if Mollie was an Indian woman who died young or someone he met along the way of his travels. Either way I want to know more about her and if she had relatives or not. Any thing you find would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
