Can anyone currently at a FamilySearch Center or Affiliate Library pull an image for me?I am looking for the handwritten baptism record for my ancestor in Los Ángeles, Bío-Bío. The images are locked for home use.

  • Name: José Delfín Lara (or José Lara)
  • Baptism Year: 1854
  • Parents: José Miguel Lara and María Elena Ramos
  • Location: Parroquia San Miguel, Los Ángeles, Bío-Bío

There is a weird transcription on his record ("Amazar"), and I need a screenshot of the original handwritten page to see his mother's real surname and check for any notes regarding Mapuche/Indigenous ancestry.Thank you so much for your help!

Unfortunately such image requests aren't allowed here in Community, although transcription requests apparently /are/ permitted. Would a new transcription (or even a visual check) of the relevant aspect(s) of the image help perhaps? If so, I am sure someone here would be able to assist, but you would need to provide the URL of the image please.

Alternatively, are you aware that you can access 'FSC only' material from your own device at any LDS Church building? https://www.familysearch.org/en/fieldops/article/familysearch-center-resources-accessible-at-all-church-meetinghouses

@Cristina52083 I've had a chance to look at that original document and do not see the word you're referring to when you say "There is a weird transcription on his record ("Amazar")"

A transcription of what I see [as it is written, spelling mistakes included]: "En la ciudad de Los Ángeles el catorse de Agosto de mil ochosientos cincuanta y cuatro años olio y estigma el Jose Lara de dose dias legitimo de Jose Miguel Lara y Mlena Ramos Padrinos B???? de laRosa … illegible

So, the given name for the mother appears all together in one fluid writing motion with no breaks or spaces - could it be shorthand for Maria Elena - I suppose so.

Nowhere do I see the word Amazar

    I hope this helps.
