Use of Google Chrome in Family Search Centers

I have been told that the Google Chrome Operating System is being implemented on computers in Family Search Centers. Is this factual information or just a way to keep older computers active longer or more secure? I'm not a fan as it is a new OS and is, in my opinion, lacking in features.
