Why won't my Memory pages stay on "Date of Memory

The ability to date a memory so as to organize them in chronological order is a delightful function. Lately however, my Memory Pages do not remain in the order in which I have arranged them. What is the fix?

I'm gathering that you are talking about the Sort order for memories on a person's Memories page. It looks like this:

The default option is "Date Added": the date on which the memory was created. This option is helpful if you want to see the memories that others recently added at the top of the list.

The "chronological order" option you are talking about is called "Date of Memory" (see the screen shot above). The creator of a memory has the option to set a date for the memory (typically the date that the event depicted in the memory took place). In my experience, this option is not as useful as I would hope, since I can't set the date for any memories I didn't contribute, and only a small fraction of the memories I encounter have a date specified.

There's not any option for explicitly arranging photos on a Memories page, but you can choose any of these 4 options, and then those memories will be sorted in the chosen order.

The Sort option is not at all permanent. You can choose an option, but then when you go to another Memories page, or even just refresh the Memories page you are looking at, it goes right back to the default: Date Added.

If I'm reading between the lines correctly, you are hoping that the Sort option you choose would be sticky so that you wouldn't have to keep setting it on each Memories page that you visit. Is that correct?

Alan is correct, the option to retain your preferred sort settings isn't currently available. However, and Good News!, this option will soon become available. No guarantees on the time-line, but the Memories team is working on this now.

Thank you! I have worked very hard over the years to date all the memories I add to Family Tree and now it is very annoying to have to keep "re-sorting" by date of memory. I feel that a chronological order makes so much more sense when you are reviewing a person's memories. And, I'd like to make that my "default" when viewing memories.

It is very annoying every time I open memories that the "default" is always date added and I have to go to sort filter to what I would like as a default which would be "default" Date Memory.

Engineers can you put in a fix, so a person can choose what they want for a "default"

    Thanks☹️

If you look a few responses up, you will see that, thankfully, the Memories team is working on improving this experience.

    Thank you for your feedback!

Do you have an estimated time window that I can set Memories by date as a Default?

If yes, would you notify me by my email… [email removed for privacy]?

    Thank you!

    Duane
