William Brown II B,1765
I noticed that in my tree created by others that William Brown II born in 1765, father was listed as Joseph Brown. When in fact it should be William Brown I as his father. William Brown I father was Joseph Brown. I am unsure how to make the correction without retaliation and be banned for making changes. I have asked for collaboration, but without response. Is there a way to ask someone in the community or from Family Search to verify? If I continue to go further with the line it will change many trees. One caveat of contention is by making the correction my particular line is not a direct descendent of Lydia Howland Brown, John and Tilly Howland of the Mayflower. I don't want to have anyone disappointed in the line that may have thought John Brown and Lydia Howland Brown are no longer their direct lineage of Mayflower notoriety. Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated please.

I think it's very possible that John Brown and Dorothy Kent adopted Lydia Howland. Lydia's parents died soon after coming to Plymouth/ Falmouth. John Brown and Dorothy Kent are on record of having a daughter named Lydia. Perhaps Lydia marries John and Dorothy's son, John Brown II ?

I apologize. Lydia Howland married James Brown who is John Brown II brother. Both are sons of John Brown Sr and Dorothy Kent
