Trying to confirm access for specific restricted FamilySearch images at SLC library
Hi all — quick question on FamilySearch Library access, I’m trying to determine whether certain restricted films (by DGS number) are viewable on-site at the main SLC family search library; I checked at a local affiliate center, but they were still coming up as blocked, so before considering a trip I’d love to know if there’s any way to confirm site-specific access ahead of time or if anyone has run into this before, the DGS numbers I’m looking at are 4011678, 7585920, 7842557, 7857896, 7857897, 7857898, and 7857899—really appreciate any insight, thanks!

These DGS may be good test subjects for accessibility. I'm putting a note on my spreadsheet to check when I visit my FSC this week.
I've spot-checked from home, and the hover messages show they can be accessed at an FSC or affiliate. I've successfully accessed some of these at my FSC in the past.

Áine@Michael13990 In recent weeks, a few of us have encountered DGS that should be viewable at an FSC or AL but cannot be viewed currently. SerraNola has the lead on resolving the issues.

Check the original MICROFILM Numbers (not the equivalent DGS number) in the catalog for the FamilySearch Library at Salt Lake City https://libcat.familysearch.org/en/
My suspicion is that the FamilySearch Library catalog is the most accurate for viewing at the FamilySearch Library, even though the main catalogue has had more recent work done on it. My suspicion is that the most recent work in the main catalogue is wrong. See my comment on another post which @sc woz was to attempt to refer up the line, where I asked which catalog was correct.

I'm at my FSC this afternoon, and I've checked the 7 DGS you were interested in viewing.
Six (6) of them are 100% available at the FSC. Only 7857896 is partially restricted. It has 10 parts or Items. 5 items can be viewed, and 5 are restricted.
Because of the partial restriction of 7857896, I was only able to access using the Images option, instead of from the catalog. The other 6 can be accessed easily either from the catalog or from Images.

@SerraNola Could you check the classification on Items 1-5 from 7857896, please? According to the catalog, the latest record is 1915. Thanks.

TT@Michael13990 As Áine referenced above, by coincidence you are trying to access the same film, 7857896. I checked the work order for this film and it has not yet been processed — likely due to data errors I flagged across all ten item numbers. Once the "Sri Lanka" entry is removed, I expect the permissions will update accordingly. I can confirm that all other film numbers you are hoping to access are designated for access at FSC or an Affiliated Library.
@MaureenE123 I concur that the best source for determining availability of physical microfilms is the Salt Lake Library Catalog. If a search by film number fails, you can also try retrieving the collection and click "More Info".
Then "Show all copies":
The numbers will be in order, but grouped by where they are located.
