New "feature" of source linker is a step backwards, IMO
I'm sure someone thought that this would be an improvement to the product, but I have serious doubts. Heretofore, you could only attach a source record to one PID (yes, if you unmerged a person then the sources would be attached to both PIDs, but let's ignore that for the moment). If the source was already attached to a record it would appear green, giving a clear visual to the user that this record was already attached to someone in the tree, so maybe they would like to take a closer look at it.
The new behavior is that for the focus person the left hand record is no longer green. Instead there is a small block of text on the left hand side that says that the record is already attached to someone. But, it will let you go ahead and attach it to another PID, no questions asked. This is especially problematic when using the GoldieMae Attach Record tool. This may result in the same record being attached to multiple PIDs that actually represent the same person, but the user may never even notice that this has been done.
I do understand that sometimes it is really difficult to determine if a record belongs to one John Smith or another, but does attaching the record to BOTH John Smiths really resolve that problem, or does it just make everything in the tree messier and more convoluted?

I'm seeing this behavior as well and it is not good. Before it was very obvious if the source was already attached to someone. This makes it too easy to attached a source to multiple people which is not good.

This issue has been reported to the engineers, and they are actively working on a fix. We do not expect it to be long, but please be patient while they assess and mitigate the problem.
