All files in film 004717520 contain significant location errors. The location of the digitized document is Oliveira dos Campinhos, Santo Amaro, Bahia, Brazil. Sometimes the names are indexed to a city of Piaúí, or Paraíba, in Brazil, and some appear as Segovia, Spain. Location errors for this country are common here on the platform.

@PSec The place names are mangled for this film because currently there is no "Oliveira dos Campinhos" as a standardized option so the system reverts to Oliveira, São Pedro do Piauí and other similar places. I have submitted Oliveira dos Campinhos and when it is added there will be a viable matching standardized place.

I have also documented the film as needing to be moved from the Bahia Civil Registration to the Bahia Catholic records collection.

Thank you for your help to improve the accuracy of our records!

That DGS seems to have more issues than just in the place name. It's listed as coming from the Archdiocesan Archives but categorized as Civil Registration.

Yes, I hadn’t noticed that either. But just as a side note: I don’t know if it’s because the city/town/parish has a compound name—“Oliveira dos Campinhos”—that the location is sometimes indexed to Oliveiras, Piauí (another state hundreds of kilometers away from there), Ceará (also another state, as in the image above), Paraíba (Another state hundreds of km away) sometimes correctly to Campinhos, Santo Amaro, Bahia (which would make more sense, since, yes, it did belong to Santo Amaro), but Segovia, Spain is way off the mark. In some cases, the city is mistaken for Oliveira dos Brejinhos, which has nothing to do with it, even though they are in the same state of the Brazilian Federation.

I didn't think it would be so quick. I believe the option “Campinhos, Santo Amaro, Bahia, Brazil” already refers to the same place, but yes, the correct name is Oliveira dos Campinhos. Thank you.
