Suggested record to review?
I was invited by FamilySearch to visit this page:
https://www.familysearch.org/en/campaign/hints
it shows a list of suggested records to review for my family:
What does it mean "Record Dismissed"? I didn't dismiss it! Who dismissed it? It looks like a perfectly reasonable record with potential for attachment, but I can't even follow the link to the document because it says:
What's the catch? What am I doing wrong? How can I "un-dismiss" and attach the record?
Thank you and best regards

The email campaign would have suggested the same records to multiple contributors.
Someone else has dismissed the record, indicating they did not believe it was relevant.
Usually, you can still view the record and decide if it is relevant. Unfortunately, access to many Italian records has recently been changed. That may be the case with those suggestions.
In other words, you're not doing anything wrong.2 -
@guido paoluzi cusani Usually, when another user dismisses a hint, the hint remains connected to the profile for which it was provided. It can still be found, along with any reason provided by the user, in the profile's Dismissed Helps tab (SHOW ALL from Research Help on the profile's Details tab). However, when I looked at the profile for Caterina Cardillo which you provided (a few hours after you posted here), I found that there was absolutely no trace of the hint on the profile. The same applies to her husband, Filippo Cusani. Each of the profiles has a single source from a different collection which you had attached recently.
I wasn't privileged to be a part of the campaign, but, in the spirit of "Nothing ventured, nothing gained", I clicked on the campaign link which you provided. I got a list of 30 hints which I could expand to 100. The overwhelming majority of the hints were marked "Record Dismissed" and, like your cases, clicking on the record link produced the same error message and the profiles showed no traces of the hints. The remainder of the hints have REVIEW & ATTACH buttons and some of those were actually useful, so I've dealt with them and the are now listed as "Record Attached". In my case, the collections for the error hints were all to do with UK-related collections.
@SerraNola FYI, these are the collections that are providing inaccessible record hints.

Collections marked with an asterisk above also have some accessible entries with REVIEW & ATTACH.
I believe that there are several issues here:
- The inaccessibility of the records marked "Records Dismissed". I would ask why some sources in these collection are inaccessible.
- The existence of the hints in the campaign if the records are, for some reason, are deemed to be restricted. I understand that hints do persist for some time after the records are marked as restricted, and eventually they will disappear.
- The use of "Record Dismissed" to describe these hints. It doesn't seem that any user has dismissed those hints.

@JulianBrown38 The hinting issue from newly-restricted records has been discussed in several threads, especially covering Italian records.
And, the issue with the 1939 National Register has also been discussed and is in Serra Nola's capable hands. The most recent thread, with links to 2 earlier threads:

As indicated by @Áine.ní.Donnghaile access to many Italian records has recently changed. I have a theory about the Record Dismissed notation next to your hints - it may not have been dismissed by a person, but perhaps a machine. Access to that record may no longer be available due to the sweeping changes in digital access rights that severely impacted Italian records recently. Which is what I believe Áine is saying - apologies if that's redundant.
However, all my not be lost. Many of those records are available on the Antenati website. If you know the comune in Benevento your ancestors were from you still may be able to search for them here:
You will need to select the Localita on the left to further narrow down your search.
You may want to join the Italy Group on here and post specific search requests with names, towns and years and perhaps we can help you further, go here:
