How do I correct a name that was changed by someone else?

My relative's name has been changed. Most of the documents that were linked to her are now linked to this new person and new sources and relatives have, I think, been added incorrectly.

Go to the person page and under the details tab, find Vital information. In the vital information, find the name and click the edit pencil to the right of the name. When on the edit page, go to the lower left and click on see all changes. You will see all names for the person, and you can select the one you want to restore. Alternatively, on the edit page, you can just change the name. Please make sure all the relationships are correect for the person. What happens sometimes is that people try to change the name to match the relationships. What should happen is to change the relationships to match name. You can follow the sources in doing this.

Sorry, I missed you provided the PID already. There were 2 merges done on this profile back in 2020. Here are some screenshots showing the process I describe which appears to be able to be done. Make sure you on the person page, the same page where you added the alternative name.

Whenever doing this, it is always look at the original name given on the profile. Pick the name you want to restore. I notice there are sources attached for May Trimmer.
Having said that, this is quite a tangle. You're going to have to look at the sources. Olive Bryant is shown married to Allie A Wright on sources. Mary Trimmer is shown to be married to Archer William Wright on sources. I don't think Allie A Wright is the same person as AArcher William Wright. You may have to undo some merges and/or create profiles for people to match the sources. And then make sure the sources are attached to the correct people. Let me know if you have other questions.

I think I was wrong on a couple of points. You just need to carefully look at the sources.

Thank you. The incorrect name (id LYJW-VV2) is not listed in a way for me to do that. The original name has disappeared so I added it as an alternate name but that is the only name I can change. I'm afraid a merge may have been done?

Also, one of the person's children was adopted by her parents. Perhaps that confused things?

if you will provide the name and ID of the person involved, I can look at it. Are these people living or deceased?

Thank you! I'll tread carefully. I have reached out to the person who changed the name.

From your screenshot I realized that I hadn't opened the VITALS tab previously. Thank you so much for your help.
