Marriage record
Hello,
I found a marriage record in Minas Gerais (Brazil), but the image is restricted.
Could someone please help me access or read the original document?
Name: Joaquim Rabello
Date: 7 February 1903
Record number: 44
Link: https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XSX5-MJWK
Thank you very much!

If you can wait until later in the week, I'll be glad to retrieve a copy for you. I already have a couple of Brazilian records on my list along with a few other items.3 -
@Patrick4,080 I visit my FSC most weeks, and I always have a spreadsheet open to collect the URLs of records folks need.

@Patrick4,080 Sorry it is taking so long to get this resolved. I've been going over this collection, comparing date ranges, permissions, and errors in image visibility messages. I've come to the conclusion that 8160553 likely should be entirely accessible at a FSC.
I can't promise quick results, as I think the whole collection needs to be reviewed, but don't give up yet!

Thanks @SerraNola
I'll keep an eye on it when I visit my FSC, @Patrick4,0802 -
Status 12 May 2026
DGS 8160553 has 10 parts or items; the marriage for Joaquim Rabello is on Item 8.
Viewing DGS 8160553 at my FSC, from the Images option, only Item 10 can be partially viewed: 1 image of 247 images (#243) can be viewed.

In the future, I may need help with other documents as well, and if you’re available to assist again, it would mean a lot to me.

@Patrick4,080 Sadly, I'm having problems accessing that DGS. I will tag someone to inquire.
@SerraNola
Could you take a look at this one, please? While at my FSC, I retrieved several Brazilian records today for another user, but I encountered issues with Patrick4,080's request. The record https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XSX5-MJWK is on DGS 8160553, Part 8, Image 175, for Marriages between 1889 and 1913.
If I try to access using the URL from the index, I get the dreaded "Unable to load custodian link, " with all the images showing padlocked.
If I access from Images, only 1 image, #243, from Part 10 can be found/viewed. The rest of the DGS is locked.
If I use the dropdown menu for each Item, I see a variety of error messages. Item 8, with 234 images, is just a page of padlocks. Item 1 returns a "Cannot Display Image Group" error message.
I realize these records may be close to being restricted for reasons of personal privacy, but the messages and icons do seem misleading, at best.
Thanks for any light you can shed.

Hi @Áine.ní.Donnghaile, thanks for checking and for all the effort you’ve already put into this, I really appreciate it.
It’s a bit unfortunate that the DGS seems to be locked or having access issues. If it turns out to be a restriction problem, do you know if there’s any alternative way to view the record (for example, through another collection, archive, or by contacting a local registry in Brazil)?
And of course, if @SerraNola or anyone else is able to access it , I’d be very grateful.
Thanks again for your help and your time!

I'm hoping that SerraNola will be able to tell us if it is a restriction error. If it is, then the record should become available in the near future, once the error is corrected.
I'm not aware of another way to obtain a copy; that would be a "next step" if the restriction is not in error. I have a couple of ideas.1 -
There is no error, just another case of the whole film being restricted based on other item #'s containing records outside of the date range guidelines. I am seeing more and more of these and will bring it to the attention of engineers to see if there's any way to speed up the process of updating restrictions on divided films.

Thanks @SerraNola
I'm sorry, but I guess I don't quite understand. According to the icons and messages-on-hover, the DGS should be viewable at the FSC, but it is not. Is that not an error? Or is the issue that it's a work in progress? In other words, should I be able to access it in the near future, after an upcoming refresh?
Thanks again.1 -
I did notice that the icon was not grayed out, but the hover message for me (with a public account) is correct that it is "currently not available…..l". Do you see something different?
I noticed today that the work item for incorrect icons and hover messages was marked as resolved. I added this example.

I'm at home now, so I can't verify how it looks at the FSC. I'll check on my next visit.
From home, right now, from the index page, I get the message that I should be able to see at an FSC or AL:
If I go to the catalog, I see the access restrictions message on hover.
My earlier screenshots (from 14 Apr) were all taken while I was at the FSC. No restriction was evident based on the icons.
Thanks.

@SerraNola
I'm back at my FSC this afternoon, and checking what the messages on this record are here.
As you can see, the messages indicate I should be able to see the image. But, when I click through on "View Original," once again I see "Unable to load custodian link."
Conflicting messages.
Thanks for anything you can clarify.0 -
Hi @Áine.ní.Donnghaile and @SerraNola,
I hope you're both doing well.
I just wanted to kindly follow up on this record, as it has been a little while and I’m still very interested in accessing it.
Has there been any update regarding the availability of this image, or any alternative way I might be able to read the document?
Thank you again for all your time and effort. I truly appreciate the help.
