I see where you cannot use a Pedigree Resource File in FamilySearch
I had the same problem as another user, where I found a relative but the ID number would not enter. So the answer was it is a Pedigree Resource file. What is that? Why did the name show up when I searched geneaologies? I thought I was searching genealogies in Family Search. I wanted to merge the two IDs, One I had created and another I found by searching. Just a brief overview will help.

Yes thank you. I was under the missunderstanding that anything I searched for in Family Search could be merged.

Good afternoon.
There are many different trees available to search on the FamilySearch platform, especially now with the new User Trees options and the Labs experiment enabling a search of all Family Trees. For example, if I search for a person in the "Find" option, I can choose from all those trees, including the Pedigree Resource File:
The Labs Experiment to search all those trees can be found at https://www.familysearch.org/en/labs/
The Pedigree Resource File is described in the FS Wiki: https://www.familysearch.org/en/wiki/Pedigree%5FResource%5FFile In short, it was one of the earlier options on FamilySearch.
We cannot merge profiles between two trees. We can copy the information from one to the main FamilySearch collaborative tree.
Hope this helps.

RE: "I was under the missunderstanding that anything I searched for in Family Search could be merged."
One way to think about this, is to view the information found under Genealogies, including the Pedigree Resource File, as sources rather than pedigrees. In the same way that you cannot merge a person in a historical record into Family Tree but only take the information in the historical record and add it to a Family Tree profile, you cannot merge the information in one of these compiled source trees into a FamilyTree profile.
Do be aware, however, that as far as I know the entire Pedigree Resource File as it existed in early 2012 was imported into Family Tree as part of its initial build and there is no reason to pull that information into Family Tree again. Much of it is duplicate information that has already been merged into the proper Family Tree profile and improved.
