There is not and never has been a "Southern Ireland," listed on the collection page for Ireland Civil Registration.
And the Public Record Office, cited for the 1901 census, was never in Belfast. PROI was in Dublin. PRONI is in Belfast but didn't exist in 1901 because Northern Ireland did not yet exist.
@SerraNola please and thank you.

I was getting ready to send this in, but wanted to run it by you. I am thinking the citation for the 1901 Census should be the National Archives of Ireland in Dublin as they are the custodian of the censuses now and not the PROI. Civil Registration records should be cited as the General Register Office in Dublin.
Is that correct? (I am no expert in Irish research!)

Thank you @SerraNola
Yes, to the census reference - National Archives in Dublin is the custodian of the Census.
#Countdown to 1926 - only 4 days to go! 😁
And, yes, to the GRO, Dublin, Ireland (no Southern, please!) for civil registration records.Thanks again.
Edit to add:
The Administrative HQ of the GRO is now in Roscommon. The office in Dublin is only a public research facility.
