Full name review highlighting too much in a single highlight

Not sure why the ai does this, but its highlighting large areas with multiple words (and names) inside of it. I usually catch this when it encompasses a name I need to index. When it does this, the area highlighted has no individual highlights and I need to either shrink the highlight down before using it, or remove it entirely and do new highlights.

@AnthonyHopkins5 Did all this highlighting come up with the record to be reviewed, or did this occur when you pushed "Show All Highlights"?

No, I found it was there, then I pushed 'show all highlights' to see if there were any more.

@AnthonyHopkins5 I will take this to our 'Get Involved' team to discuss.

Should I post more when it happens, or just leave it there?

@AnthonyHopkins5 You sure are welcome to post more; it will help us know how often it is happening. We appreciate all that you do in the "Get Involved" opportunities.

@AnthonyHopkins5 In Full Name Review, when you come across a highlight like that; answer the question, “Is the full Name highlighted” with a ‘no’ then click on the highlight. You will see the resizing circle in the highlight and you can resize the yellow highlight to fit the name.

@AnthonyHopkins5 I will take this to our team to discuss. In the meantime, here are a few steps you might try:

    1. Click yes and see what it puts into the boxes
    2. Then "Go Back' and detach what is not needed or
    3. Click on all the highlights, detach, and add new highlights
    4. Sometimes you can tell by clicking one of the names, attaching the highlight, and seeing what result you get. I had an issue when the highlights were on part of one name and part of another. I tried detaching one of the names, but it didn't work, so I went with the other name and got a good result. In other words, that's the name that got indexed.
    5. You can always "go back"

Oh, I've been doing it a little differently, I can start doing it this way. I'm posting them because people wanted to know the frequency in which I'm encountering this problem though rather than asking for solutions.

@AnthonyHopkins5 No worries, it is good for us to know how often it happens. Our team is always trying to find better, more efficient ways to help AI correctly identify record data.

Here ya go. (I do about 30 minutes of full name review per day, if that helps you know how often I run into this stuff.)

Also, there are ones where it highlights a name and initial in one with the first name or surname in a second box. Should I fix this too, or just let it fly cause its not disruptive?

@AnthonyHopkins5 Thank you so much for your dedicated work in Full Name Review. When you see highlights like this, try detaching the highlight and re-highlighting the Full Name in the record. Hopefully, that will put the correct information in the right boxes.

Hey, I got another one, but the number of times this has happened has greatly decreased!

@AnthonyHopkins5 In Full Name Review, if you have determined that the highlight contains incorrect information, click No. Remove the highlight by clicking it and then select "Detach." Click the name you want highlighted, select "Attach", and adjust the highlight's position as needed.

@dancingintherain All questions about this have actually been answered, but I was told to post these when I find them to aid in them knowing when and how often oversized boxes pop up.

@AnthonyHopkins5 We appreciate your help in finding Get Involved issues. However, in this case, since there are procedures in place to correct a CAI record, I would go ahead and fix the highlighting. There doesn't seem to be a "bug" in this case.

I mean, alright, but if a moderator wants me to continue posting these when they do come up, do let me know. I will stop for now just to make sure I'm not annoying anyone.

    @AnthonyHopkins5

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this discussion and shared insights. I really appreciate the time and attention given to understanding the highlighting behavior in Full Name Review. It’s encouraging to see how responsive and supportive the community and the Get Involved team are.

What I get out of this discussion is to continue correcting the highlights as suggested and keep posting examples when they seem helpful for tracking patterns or frequency. Thanks again for making this work smoother for everyone.

In this one, there were three separate instances that I highlighted.

@AnthonyHopkins5 There are procedures for correcting highlighting. I hope the following examples will help you:

    Screenshot 2026-06-13 at 8.43.56 AM.png

In this instance, you can see a partial name is highlighted along with information that is not a person. In this case, I like to click "yes" to the question "Is the Full Name Highlighted" just to see what appears in the review panel and what I need to fix.

    Screenshot 2026-06-13 at 8.49.50 AM.png

This is the result. Before correcting anything, I "Go Back" and click "No," not a full name.

I then decide I need to add a Surname field and to detach "Section" since it is not a person. I also need to attach Arthur since that is the given name.

After doing all that I decided to do, I checked the review panel. Milburn was still in the given name box, so I clicked and dragged the blue box down to the surname field. There was an "N" in the given name field where Arthur was supposed to be, but since I had already created a highlight for Arthur, I went into the given name and deleted the "N" and typed in Arthur. The review panel looked correct, so I clicked next, confirmed everything looked correct, and clicked done.

I realize that the example in your screenshot is much more detailed than mine. I would be interested to see what the review panel showed as a result of the highlighting. It looks like you are showing all the highlighting in the record. I am trying to interpret what is going on with the highlighting in your screenshot. Maybe you can explain it more.

another one I noticed. Also I do know how to handle these, I'm just reporting them so that the techies know how often its happening. this is about the system glitching and highlighting too much, not how to fix the highlights themselves. I am selecting specifically the highlights that are oversized so that its known how many there are. It is not actually selecting these on its own. (I was gonna say usually, but I don't think I've ever had it select an oversized highlight, its the kind of thing I discover when I have to add a name included in the highlight. I found this interesting, but am not sure if it actually helps.)

@dancingintherain where is this review Panel you mention? Here's my procedure: full name highlighted? No since the name Arthur was missed, so I use New Highlight (step 2) then Arthur will appear without my having to highlight it then I add the Surname box if needed (step 3) then I detach the highlight on Section in your example and move Milburn to the Surname go to step 4 correct any spelling and hit done. Seems to me to be much easier.

@AnthonyHopkins5 Next time you get one of these, may I suggest you share your procedure for correcting highlighting issues? I think if people share their methods, it might help others along the way. Just a suggestion.

Here's another one. As requested, here is my way of fixing these. Depending on how big the highlight box is, I will either:
A: shrink down the highlight to the proper size for the one name part I wish to highlight and put the name in. or
B: remove the highlight and push it away before making a new highlight just for the name section I want to highlight.
(On occasion I have met a highlight that goes over an entire name. During such times, I will do choice B, but for each section of the name.)

Ok, this time its a bit of a different issue where its trying to highlight the whole name in one highlight.
