I always work do my research from FamilySearch's catalog, for Yauco, Puerto Rico.
I have been searching one film this past week - Bautismos 1862-1873, film
538773, Image group number 7231497. It normally contains over 2,000 images. Today the pc at the Family Search Center shows only 193 images. I called the FamilySearch Center in Salt Lake and the consultant I spoke to today said that there were over 2,000 images, but on this pc here at the center it does not show that. I believe looking at the other dates on this pc that the same conditions exist. I need to check my pc at home. Why is this discrepancy happening here at the center? Your help would be appreciated.

Hi Serra,
Thank you for your response. I will definitely try all of the above next Thursday. I am grateful that you are a bundle of knowledge! Thank you!

I just checked the pc next to the pc I am using at the FamilySearch Center. The same problem exists. Only 193 images are shown instead of over 2,000 images.

@SAMMONE15 I will send this up the line to see if it can be repaired or belongs that way.

Thank you very much. I don't know why this is happening. I am wondering if all the films are being changed from our pc's?. Maybe the pc's from this center are not working. So far, two are not. I am a member of the church that works at this center. I will inform the director later today when I get home. At the moment my phone is completely dead. Thank you!

Checking DGS 7231497 from the Images option:
https://www.familysearch.org/en/records/images/search-results?imageGroupNumbers=7231497&pageSize=100
I see 2,358 total images.
And from the Catalog https://www.familysearch.org/en/search/film/007231497?cat=koha%3A277991&i=0
I also see 2,358 images.

I just checked my pc and i have the same amount of images. My question is why do the pc's at our FamilySearch center only show 193 images?

Because you're seeing only the first item.
When you open a microfilm from the catalog and then refresh your browser, it switches to the DGS view, or however you call it, which is usually divided by items.
Must be that

Omar, you are correct. I checked the film again and it is the first item. I need to wait until I return to the FSC next Thursday to refresh the pc. What is the answer or what do i do if the film remains the same - showing only 193 images? Please let me know. Thank you!

Well, I mean, I'd have to see it to figure out what's the actual issue.
Theoretically, opening this link (the one you shared) and not touching anything should show 2,358 images. If it doesn't, you could always copy the links of the first image of each item into a .txt file and open them directly from the URL when in the center (either by copy-pasting or by copying them by hand), see if you can see the whole thing that way.
At least that's what comes to mind, but I'm no expert 😅

I'm at my FSC this afternoon, and I get the same results here that I got at home last week, shown in my comment from 26 March.

The results you see depend on the image viewer, not your computer. The old viewer shows the full film with all item numbers together, while the new viewer defaults to ONLY the requested item but can be adjusted to show the entire film.
The viewer being used depends on where you clicked:
- Catalog: Old Viewer
- Search Results: New Viewer
- Record Details: New Viewer
- Images: New Viewer
Example: Let’s say you found this person from a search or as a source in the tree:
Notice the 001 following the Film #. This tells you the record image is found in Item 1 on that film and when you click on the image it will show you only Item 1:
Item 1 has 193 images. To see the whole film use the drop down on the upper right to change the setting:
Now the number of images is 2,358 but Item 1 is still displayed because you are still in Item 1. As you move through the film the item #’s will change.
Apologies if the process is a bit unclear, but I hope this answers your question. It's surprising that the FSC consultants were not able to assist you.

Just in case there is confusion about this, here is what is taking place:
Engineers had been working on a new catalog image link that would open in the new viewer. Last week they completed that task and rolled it out to 10%. (The other 90% of us still link to the old viewer). The new link opens to the first image, which is Item 1 if the film is divided. They overlooked that some users may not know how to access the entire film using the tool at the top.
Engineers are now looking at options to open the viewer in “View image group” mode rather than just “View this single item/image”.
I hope that makes sense. It’s not a bug, just a way to make access easier for our users.
You may also notice an updated dropdown:

I noticed the updated dropdown a couple of days ago. Can confirm.

I think I am having many of the same problems accessing the Croatian parish registers.
The new viewer just isn't fit for purpose but I haven't got an easy way to switch back to the old viewer (except perhaps by finding a way to go via the catalogue).
Even if I select the whole item rather than one item (in the drop-down menu) the image numbers are different to what they used to be so my stored references are now all useless.

Referencing sources by image number was never a good idea for the long term (although I have done it myself). There will always be changes. If you can be more specific about why the old viewer is more "fit for your purpose" we can probably offer suggestions. Perhaps my latest post in this thread would be helpful:

In the thread mentioned above I announced that engineering is pulling back the changes made to waypoint links. That is not the same issue as the catalog links which now takes some users to the new viewer. These are two separate changes made by different engineering teams that happened to be made the same week.

Thanks for the clarification @SerraNola. I thought that was what you meant, but it's good to know for certain.
Thanks for all you do, and for your communication with us.2 -
I believe that a fix for this issue was put into production yesterday. We thank you for bringing this to our attention; please let us know if you continue to see discrepancies.

The catalog camera icon link to the new viewer was turned back on today for 50% of users. The link now directs users to the grid view of the entire film, rather than the first Item number (as it did in the first roll out to 10%). All navigation procedures remain unchanged, so you can still refer to previous instructions shared in this thread if you are not familiar with maneuvering in the new viewer.
