Deciphering Handwriting - 1840's Able Seaman Record

Hello, first time post here and I am seeking some guidance and/or advice.

My great-great-grandfather James Kearney was an Able Seaman out of Liverpool, England, in the 1840's. I have a copy of his seaman's register (copy attached) but I am finding the port numbers difficult to read (port numbers enlarged and attached). I have researched that Port Number 62 was Liverpool in those days.

I have spent many years on trying to find how James Kearney arrived in Australia (before 1853, married in Australia in 1853) and I was hoping that the Port Numbers shown on his register may be able to help me in tracing his travels. Also there is a comment in the Remarks column which I am unable to decipher.

The FamilySearch citation reference is as follows:

"United Kingdom, Merchant Navy Seamen Records, 1835-1941", FamilySearch (https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:KC3P-97N **: Sat Aug 31 03:27:32 UTC 2024), Entry for James Kearney, 1845-1854.**

I have been told by the Crew List Index Project (CLIP) that FamilySearch hold the film of these records and that by sighting the film it may be more legible to read.

Unfortunately for me I reside in a rural area in Victoria, Australia, and access to a research centre is limited, so I was hoping that someone may be able to access the film for me and see if the information is any clearer to read.

Kindest regards and thank you for reading my post.

    @Soapie
    Do you have a FamilySearch Center or Affiliate Library nearby? The record you specified https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:KC3P-97N?lang=en can be viewed there.

    You can find your closest FSC or AL using https://www.familysearch.org/locations/centerlocator

    If you don't have one nearby, I'll be at mine later this week. Just let me know, and I can add it to my look-up list.

    Hope this helps.

    Thank you so much for the offer of your help. Being in a regional area it will take me approximately three hours to get to one of the centres. If it is not too much trouble to you, could you add me to your list for a look-up, please.

    Greatly appreciate your offer.

    Regards,
