FIND BY ID

When I try to enter an ID number, it enters in small letters. After several tries I can click on it below as it will show in capitals. Then when I click in this is says invalid number (it's not)

It works OK when I enter a name. It also works on ID numbers that I've used previously that show up underneath. I have several people I only know by number and can't proceed til this gets fixed. I've restarted the computer and cleared cookies. Please help !

I just tried and it is working fine for me. Perhaps you could furnish the exact ID you are trying to enter so we can look further.

@Barbara Brown3 where exactly are you entering the id? A screenshot would help.

Also, I am wondering whether your browser is complicating the issue by providing you with 'autocomplete' information that is incorrect. Do you get the same problem in all browsers? Does the mobile app work better?

@Barbara Brown3 Since you know those profiles by their ID numbers, you may have them saved somewhere on your computer. Try copying and pasting into Find by ID instead of typing. Or, if you don't have them saved, type them into notepad or another text editor, then copy and paste from there into Find by ID.

i called family Search and it worked ok there. I have no trouble entering ID when merging, only on Find. I have a list of ID numbers and don't know who they belong to.

It doesn't seem to matter what number I use ,they all come up in lower case

For example L6HV-SCB worked with the FS rep.

A common problem is the confusion between letters and numbers that may resemble each other. For example, a 5 and an S can easily be misread.

    L6HV-5CB is Rebecca Maczak https://www.familysearch.org/en/tree/person/details/L6HV-5CB
L6HV-SCB is Ruth Evlynn Thompson https://www.familysearch.org/en/tree/person/details/L6HV-SCB

When you find the persons you are searching for (and I'm happy to help you work on it), then "Follow" those profiles by clicking the star. You won't have to search for them again.
