Is this a new feature?

I have just encountered this (in Landscape view) for the first time and wonder if it is a new feature?

If so, I think I'd rather not be presented with such suggestions and wonder if I can hide them?

    I have now noticed that these "Potential" suggestions (for parents) go away if I deselect Record Hints from the Options, but if I do that the "blue" hints besides the individuals also disappear, and I'd prefer to keep those.

    One other observation is that the blue hints disappear immediately when I switch off Record Hints, but the "Potential" ones only vanish after a page refresh!

    Hi @Paul W
    I'm not seeing it. Just checked in a couple of different areas of my tree.
    I have all current Labs Experiments turned "on," unless there's a new one being released in your part of the world first?

    "Potential" suggestions (for parents)" seems to be the key trigger here. I haven't seen this either. But, having looked through many branches on my landscape view I cannot find any apparent "potential" parents to add. Therefore, I would not see this.

    A similar "feature" has been an option on another genealogy website for several years. There, it doesn't require the presence of viable potential relatives.

    @Paul W The Potential Parents feature has been around for at least a year. I asked about it in a post in March 2025.

    @JulianBrown38

    Thank you for the link to the post you raised a year ago.

    It does seem strange that others (including me, up till a couple of days ago) have never encountered this, even though many are working on Family Tree virtually every day of the year!

    There still doesn't appear to have been any notification about this as a forthcoming issue, nor any guidance concerning it. I eventually found how to get the suggestions to appear using Portrait view and believe the "Review Evidence" wording is much better than the "Add" found on Landscape view. Clicking on the "Potential" parent does lead to a record from which one can decide if there is an actual relationship, but the "Add" gives the impression that clicking against the name will automatically add the individual as a parent, instead of giving one the chance to review.

    In summary, I still think it most odd that this item is so rarely encountered - I come across many examples of where a parent is found in a Record Hint in exactly the same manner as in this example, so the algorithm doesn't seem to be applied in a consistent manner. Also, I would like to see the word "Add" (in Landscape) replaced by the "Review Evidence" found in Portrait view.

    @Paul W I have been unable to replicate this and find any hints like you show. I will pass it up the line to see if there is an answer for us.
