Obrigada!

    Translation: Hello! I have completed my entire family tree and gathered all the information necessary for my case. However, regarding the period in Germany, there was a "10-year rule" in effect, which required one to possess either a consular registration or a specific German document to prove citizenship. I believe the consular registration for my ancestor has likely been lost; although his siblings returned to Germany—and even had children there—I was unable to locate a registration for any of them. I only found one for a cousin, and that was many years later.

    What I need now is a document that serves as proof of his citizenship. This is the most difficult part of the process, but based on my research, I am certain that such a document exists—I just need to find it.

    Lorenz Kroff (Lourenço Kroeff), born in 1827 in Zell.

    Can anyone help me identify where I might find this type of document, or recommend a specialist who performs this kind of work?

    Thank you!

    There are numerous places in Germany with the name of Zell. Can you be more specific?

    @SerraNola
    This would appear to be the profile with the place of birth listed as Zell in Preußen/Prussia.

    Unfortunately, you will not find a baptismal record for Lorenz on FamilySearch as births are only available up to 1798. The collection does however have a marriage register and members of the family married in Germany are listed, if that helps at all in establishing citizenship. These records start on image 245 of film 8207722 and are available at a FS Center, Affiliated Library, or with an LDS account. https://www.familysearch.org/en/search/catalog/koha:257818

    Although Metricula is always adding new records, there are only a few for the Trier Diocese and I did not find the parish of Merl listed.

    I wish you well in your quest!
