I give!

The pension index for James R Hodge, who served in the Indian Wars from the state of Alabama, was showing a place of Alabama Township, Sacramento, California, United States.

I understand why it happened. The original indexing was simply the word Alabama, with no further detail.

I first edited the place on James' profile to remove the reference to California. Then I edited the index of the pension card to Alabama, United States.

Now, the displayed event place is Willis Town, DeKalb, Alabama, United States.

What was the time lapse between your edit and noticing the new place as Willis Town? Was it immediate?

Here is Thomas Jones before editing:

After editing with standardized name of Michigan, United States in place of just Michigan:

Third edit, removed Michigan from the state field:

    Go figure!
