Original Record Used to Create this Person
William Cox LCZS-L8D A birth record index was used to create this person and is attached in the sources along with others. William was born in England, was married to an Elizabeth, and they had a son named Henry, born in 1849. In 2012, regardless of the sources attached, this person was changed to William Cox, born in the US in 1813, and married to Elizabeth Cloud. Further sources were added for the life events in the US as well as children. Is it best to just detach the original England sources, or detach the US information and create a new William Cox with those sources. At this point there are more US records and information than English ones.

I just had a quick look through the change log, as well as the relatives currently attached to this William Cox. Whatever the errors in identification made in the past, I certainly see this profile as representing the William Cox of Indiana, who later moved to Kansas.
Personally, I would look to identify the William Cox who had children baptised at Clapham, Surrey, England. If you can find an existing individual in the tree who appears to match him, detach the three sources that relate to the baptisms of those children and attach to that individual.
If you cannot find such an individual, I would create a new profile for the William Cox of Clapham, England, add a wife Elizabeth Jane, then the three children identified in the baptism sources. If you so wish, use FreeBMD and the GRO websites to find his marriage to Elizabeth Jane (and hence her surname). The GRO index should have birth registrations of the children (Henry, Jane & William), which should show their mother's maiden name and match the one (hopefully) found in William's marriage record.
Of course, you could just detach those Clapham baptism sources and let someone else to do the rest of the work, but (if you have the time and patience) creating new profiles (as described) would be far better from the point of view that another careless / inexperienced user could come along and reattach the sources to LCZS-L8D again!
Please return here if you would like further advice on the process required to distinguish the two William Cox individuals involved here, one from the other.

Typically, it is best to keep the individual as being who he was originally created to be. You can usually determine this by going to the Change Log, as Paul did, and going to the very earliest entries.
A problem with this particular profile is that when it was imported into Family Tree in 2012, it was already a combination of two different gentlemen. The combined individual had three wives and bunch of children distributed between England and the US. Since this conflation of the two men occurred prior to Family Tree, they cannot be separated and you are forced to create a new profile for one of them then sort out the current information between the two of them. Keep in mind as you work on this, you may even find that there are more than two Willliam Cox mixed together here.
Since the change log shows the original import has a lot of children born in the US, I would agree with Paul and leave the current profile as the man born in US and create new profiles for however many Williams you eventually find buried here.

Whilst I realise your primary concern here is regarding for which William Cox the profile LCZS-L8D should be used, it is also not completely clear in which William Cox lies your main interest.
If it is the one who had a wife Elizabeth and son Henry (baptised 1849 at Clapham, Surrey), I just went on to the FreeBMD website and found his marriage to Elizabeth Jane Hazeltine was registered at Wandsworth, Surrey in 1848. The 1849 birth registration of son Henry (found at the GRO website) - also at Wandsworth, which included the parish of Clapham - confirms a mother's maiden name of Hazeltine. (Likewise for Jane, birth 1850 and William, birth 1853, who also currently have their baptism sources attached to LCZS-L8D.)
I cannot find an existing profile for William on Family Tree, so the above detail would be a starting point for you if you should wish to create separate profiles on the tree for this William Cox and his family.
Only to add, I agree with Gordon that there are more than two individuals named William Cox that can be found in the change log - including the one who married Anna Clark Wesson in Somerset.
