how do i find information for relatives

That depends on time period and any specific country (down to state / county / region) where you believe they live(d). For living persons, records can be quite limited, especially if the area concerned has strict privacy laws. Newspaper articles and a general search using Google, etc., would be worthwhile - especially if an uncommon name is involved (e.g., not a general search for a "John Smith")
If the relatives are deceased, again try old newspaper articles (including obituaries), but typing their names into the Search boxes available on the FamilySearch website, or that of sites like Find My Past or Ancestry might prove fruitful. Start with any relative (assuming you do know at least their names) and add a country / area and rough time period. Allowing for different circumstances, I'd be surprised if you found nothing, using just this simple line of search.
It would be much more helpful for you to return here and provide more information about who you are looking for, however, but do not provide any personal detail of anyone you suspect might still be alive - in line with the strict terms and conditions here concerning the privacy of living persons.

@Gail5649 Here is an article on how to get started and how to find and connect with your family tree.
The simplest way to find out more about your family tree is to add your family information into the FamilySearch Family Tree. That will trigger a search for your ancestors in the world’s largest online family tree.
The automated tree builder will guide you along. You’ll start by adding your parents and grandparents. Don’t worry—all information about living people is kept private. As you add information, the system will begin searching for your family members in the community family tree and in historical records, like birth and death certificates.
