Wrong person linked as spouse to my father's mother's father's mother

While reviewing RootsTech relationship results showing 10 or so generations back I realised thet a link was being made in error over a profile (LYQ4-FFZ) for a man with a name similar to my paternal grandmothers paternal grandmother's (GWJJ-MPP) husband.

Now where this gets a little complicated has to do with Swedish naming in agrarian society up until about 1901 (Law about family names). The person named as Anna Margareta Robertsson (GWJJ-MPP) is the same person as Anna Margareta Carlsdotter (MGKR-FPN) who is connected to the right husband (PS3W-44D). There are also household examination records calling her Anna Greta, Anna Gretha and Anna Margreta with implied or explicit patronymics of Carlsdotter or Karlsdotter. They end up having 10 children, three of which are now connected to GWJJ-MPP. I would like to merge MGKR-FPN and GWJJ-MPP but am afraid to screw things up because the two men's profiles are legitimate as are the children's. The two records I want to merge aren't flagged as potential duplicates.

Seeking Guidance :-)

Hi @ErikZetterberg Thanks for yout entry in community. Relative to your question about merge, you can still merge even when they don't show as possible duplicates. This is done by using the "merge by ID" function. Here is a link to instructions.

    https://www.familysearch.org/en/help/helpcenter/article/how-do-i-merge-duplicates-in-family-tree-by-id

Relative to your other question about showing relationships. If the relationships are not showing correctly, is because the is something wrong on one or more person pages. The person page is where you go to correct relationships for each individual. If the relationships are correct on the person pages, then the various views of relationship will be correct. Here is a link to relationship editing.

Hope this helps. If you need further help with the merge or anthing else, you can always call the free help line at 866-430-1830. They will be happy to help.

Thanks for the links. I'll study them and try to fix.

I need to mention that I have merged profiles before, often created from one or more birth records ond/or a marriage record but the ones I have done usually don't leave anybody behind as it were.

Calling a US free line from Sweden probably won't work but I'll reach out again if anything goes wrong 😀
