I have received a research tip for Marie Anna Bertha Altenau GNS3-6DL.

It's about her baptism. The indexer has recorded the date of birth as the date of baptism. But I read something different here. It looks like all the children listed were baptized on the same day: February 23, 1873.

Of course, I can enter the correct baptism date for Marie Anna Bertha Altenau. But then I'll have another pointless discussion with the AI, the source evaluation, which won't believe me that it was indexed incorrectly.

@Bettina58 thank you for the feedback, and the link to the record. I have sent a link to the records group for advice.

I found something else here. The baptism date has been indexed incorrectly here.https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CSWV-FT58?view=index&personArk=%2Fark%3A%2F61903%2F1%3A1%3AQP6Y-8KWN& cc=3015626&lang=en&groupId=

A very precise baptism date has been entered. Instead, a date centuries before the birth has been indexed.

I don't think this is the right place to report something like this. However, since I don't know where else I can report such things, I would appreciate an explanation of how I can do better next time.

@Bettina58 You actually don't need to report these kind of indexing errors at all. As long as there is an image, you can correct the problem yourself.

Looking at the three baptismal records on the page your link goes to, I don't see a problem with any of the dates so either someone has already corrected this for you or your link goes to the wrong place. Which child has or had the wrong date?

In any event, here is how you correct the indexes.

Starting here, click on the name of the person you want to correct information for:

This opens a side panel with that person's information:

Scroll down to the section that needs correction and click on the pencil icon next to the header:

This opens the editor for that section. Make any needed corrections, then click Save:

Be sure to correct both all the date sections as needed, that is, the full date, the day, the month, or the year.

Some days the editor does have some issues with saving the new information but when it works the way it is supposed to, you can correct anything in the record.
