Does FamilySearch Library want High School yearbooks

I am the Coordinator for the Newnan, GA FSC. A patron called and asked if he could donate some Cincinnati, OH yearbooks to the Center. I told hm no, we are in the process of reviewing our onsite library holdings and determining if they should be sent to Salt Lake FS Library for digitizing. He said he would donate them to the Center if he was assured the yearbooks would be digitized. If not, he would find another place to donate them.

Is the FamilySearch Library still digitizing high school yearbooks? Do they want hardcopy yearbooks donated to them? I tried using the Find function for Memories but it is offline.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

No idea what the answer is — but he could also contact the Cincinnati Public Library system to see if they might want them — or know someone who would want them.

I am not connected with FamilySearch

The following link is about Donations https://www.familysearch.org/en/library/donations and it says the FamilySearch Library does not accept year books

Ancestry requested and accepted yearbooks at one time; I do not know if they still do.

The Allen County Public Library Genealogy Center has a large collection of school yearbooks, and they accept donations.

Put your yearbooks to good use by looking up old friends ; they might be wondering whatever happened to you too 😎

The Ohio Genealogical Society collects yearbooks from all over the state: https://www.ogs.org/visit-the-library/

I've donated my parents' high school and college yearbooks to the OGS Library in the past.

Am I the only one who is really nervous about all this, given the number of currently-living people who are presumably mentioned in these yearbooks?

Yearbooks are published copyrighted books and as any other published book can be made available and placed in the public domain as soon as they are published.

And US school yearbooks from many locations are already online. I can easily find my yearbooks from age 13 through 21 online.

Ah OK thanks both, so any consent issues are simply dealt with at publication time.
