South African documents with restricted view
South Africa: Why have the views of so many documents, e.g. baptisms and probate documents, been restricted to basic information, whereas previously one could access the actual documents with complete information.

If you have specific records you can provide it might help to get a clearer answer to the problem.
Recent changes in the laws of many countries required permission changes in how the FamilySearch catalog and other information are obtained and viewed by the public. The first suggestion I can offer at this time is to keep trying to access the records over time, as the permissions may change in the future. Remember that the 1920s to current are not normally allowed because of privacy restrictions.

The records for South Africa have been on the list to fix. There is a lot of inconsistency—as you have noted and it is taking time to work through them. I will move them up in priority.
For those I have examined, many will be restored when corrections have been made. Thank you for bringing this to the forefront! I will make sure it gets attention!
