I am trying to track down the death certificate of my great grandfather.

He was hungarian. He entered the USA in 1901 by ss. Graaf Waldersee. He was a miner somewhere in Ohio and died in the USA between 1901-1906. The cause of death was an accidental explosion in the boarding house. His name was Michael Doktor. He died with his brothers Joeph Doktor and Steven Doktor. I woul be grateful for any help.

    The state of Ohio instituted statewide registration of deaths in 1908, and general compliance was in effect by about 1911. In other words, there will likely not be a state death registration for Michael Doktor. Some cities/towns/counties may have had death records - more likely a line in a register than a certificate.

    We might find a newspaper report of the explosion, but without a town/city, that may be difficult.
