Every now and then, I also stumble across a person who is attaching and creating profiles with literally no sources, nor providing any proof that they have done any investigation. This is just one of the very few downsides of "public" genealogy.

@Jesé. Certainly, this is not ideal. A core principle of family history research is to source your work - this gives proof that the people you are adding to the tree actually have a place there. You are correct, this is one downside to a public tree. You can help by adding sources whenever you can, and making sure you add correct information. I also try to spend some time merging duplicate records for the same people whenever I come across a family where this has happened. Do you have a question about any of these procedures? I know it can be frustrating!!

In my experience, there are probably more individuals contributing to the FamilySearch tree without adding sources than there are who do add sources.

There's no truth without proof!

Genealogy without documentation is mythology.
