My Great Aunt Adopted

My Great Aunt Elna May was adopted by Merle and May Pritchard in Jackson Michigan. Her birth date is 12/11/1913. We are not sure if she was a train child (Merle was an engineer on the railroads) or given to them. Had a birth certificate but was torn up when we were told she was adopted by my Great Uncle in 1986. Any help in finding her roots would be helpful

Were her adoptive parents members of a fraternal organization? I ask as my grandmother was adopted by a couple who were Odd Fellows. The IOOF in the state where they lived were very kind and shared her adoption papers with me, giving me her birth parents' names. With that information, it was not hard to find her birth record on this site.
