keine markierten indexierten Quellen
What does this assessment mean? This person has a marriage that is not supported by any marked indexed sources.
If there are no further objections, this message appears. However, the indexing program has never been able to mark a marriage.

You can indeed tag indexed sources to marriage information. Unfortunately, the current process has some problems.
Here is how you accomplish this:
Find an indexed marriage source and use the source linker to attach it to the couple:
The critical step is moving over the marriage information from the left column to the right column even if there is no reason to. If the information is exactly the same and it does not allow you to move the information over, you have to edit the existing information to make them different enough to move the marriage information over. That is the only way to get the indexed marriage source onto the couple information like this:
Currently the source linker is not able to automatically tag the couple event when you attach a source. So now you have to click on the marriage event, not on the edit pencil icon but anywhere else in the gray box that appears when you hover over the information:
to open the data view popup:
and tag the source to the information:
Then the data quality flag regarding no tagged index source goes away.
The problems with the current procedure are, first, that I now have to go back and delete the duplicate marriage information. And secondly that if the indexed source is already attached to the individuals there is no way to attach it to the couple information other than to go back in the source linker, detach the source from the spouse, then reattach it like this:
Again being sure to move the marriage information from left to right and after attaching the source going to the Couple popup to clean up the marriage information and tag the source.
It's clumsy enough that if the indexed marriage source is already properly attached but was not added to the couple sources list, I generally just dismiss the data quality flag. If the source is on that list but just not tagged, I do take care of the tagging and get the data flag resolved that way.

@Gordon Collett Thanks for your detailed explanation. This process is indeed amazingly cumbersome and not at all obvious, and your explanation with screen shots is very helpful. However, there are a couple of ways it's not quite as limited as you portray, so I would add some clarifications.
After you explained how to use the source linker to attach a source to the couple relationship by making sure a marriage event is moved to the right, you said "That is the only way to get the indexed marriage source onto the couple information…." That's not quite true. It's certainly the only way to do so with the source linker, but you can also do it by manually adding a source to the couple relationship (using the "+ ADD SOURCE" button) and then adding an indexed marriage source that is in your Source Box. Then you can manually tag the event to the attached source.
You also said "The problems with the current procedure are, first, that I now have to go back and delete the duplicate marriage information." First of all, if you use the Source Box technique, there won't be a duplicate marriage event. It's true that if you are using the source linker process you laid out, you do have to edit or delete the marriage information that matches the event in the indexed source just to be able to to move the marriage event to the right in the source linker, which is essential if you want the source linker to attach this indexed source to the couple relationship. But after you have attached the source, you may not have to delete the marriage event that was added. If you deleted the marriage information instead of editing it (that's often what I do), then there's no need to go back and delete the newly-added marriage event. And in some rare cases, the marriage event that is added needs to stay, even if it is a second marriage event. Indeed, if you have a situation (as exists in my family) where a couple got married, divorced, then remarried, the accurate way to record that is to have two marriage events and one divorce event. The marriage events are not duplicates but are distinct. There can then be three (or more) sources attached to the couple relationship and each one is tagged to one of those events.
Finally, the statement "And secondly that if the indexed source is already attached to the individuals there is no way to attach it to the couple information other than to go back in the source linker, detach the source from the spouse, then reattach it…" is somewhat misleading. The process you explained is indeed one way to do it, but you can also use the Source Box to do this as I explained above.
But these are minor issues. I just wanted to make sure that people were aware of the Source Box option as another way to get an indexed source attached to the couple relationship, which then can be tagged to the couple relationship event, which has to happen in order to prevent the DQS warning (aside from dismissing the warning).

Thanks for the additional clarification and options. I tend to forget about the source box because I have never added an indexed source to my source box since they are designed to be attached to just one profile. It just never occurred to me to get the source on the couple event that way.
Do you know if an existing indexed source is added to the source box with the new title of "Copy of ….", it is still considered an indexed source by the DQS? It would be much easier to tag existing sources if it could be copied there, have the titled edited to remove "Copy of", and then attached to the marriage event. If you've never tried this, then I'll test it out when I have time.
Regarding going back and deleting duplicate marriage information, I find I do have to do this the majority of the time because the marriage information already on the couple is usually more complete and more accurate than what is in the source.

@Bettina58 Thanks for the feedback!
This is a known issue. We are looking at ways to improve this experience, but it may take a while.
Thanks again!0 -
@Gordon Collett A FamilySearch source from the Source Box will count as an indexed source, even if it's of the "Copy of" variety. I've done this many times.

Great! I'll go back to tagging instead of dismissing and @Bettina58 I'll add to my post above with this information from @Alan E. Brown

Here is additional information of how to deal with the "Marriage with no tagged sources" and "Marriage with no tagged index sources" Data Quality Score flags when there are outside sources and indexed sources already on a profile based on what I learned today.
Here is a profile which should have a DQS flag of no sources tagged to the marriage information even though there are four sources for the marriage of which one is a user created source and the other three are indexed sources:
The flag would be there because none of these sources have been tagged to the marriage information:
Going to the couple relationship screen, the user created source has been attached to the marriage:
So to clear the no tagged sources flag, it is simply a matter of clicking on the marriage information to re-open the data pop up view, clicking Tag Sources, and tagging the source:
Now the data quality flag will change to no tagged indexed sources. In order to clear that flag, one or more of the indexed sources currently on the profile needs to placed on the couple relationship. One method of doing this is outlined in my post earlier today. Another option is the following:
First pick one of the existing indexed sources and open it and click View under the source title:
Now click Copy To Source Box:
Then return to the profile, open the Couple Relationship pop up, click Add Source, and choose Add from Source Box:
to add the source:
(You may need to close the pop up and re-open it to refresh the list of sources.)
Then attach the source as shown previously:
Now the marriage information does have an indexed source to it and the data quality flag will clear in Alan's experience. I was hoping to personally confirm this, but for some reason no data quality flags for marriages are showing up today. I wonder if they have been temporarily discontinued while working to make this tagging process more straightforward and efficient.

Wow! Thank you all for your input. Marriage tagging definitely needs to be more straight forward.
