How do I easily find a way to search for ancestors by number?

i need to go easily to the search ancestor by number to verify temple work. Every time I do this I have to fight a battle because every search wants name and address. Is there an easy way to go direct to search by ancestor number? If so, I haven't found it.

If you go to Family Tree in the main menu, then choose Find, the Find by ID option lets you simply enter an ID (no name or address).

Another easy option, which is actually a couple of fewer clicks, is to choose Recents from the Family Tree menu:

    Which brings you here:

In this search box you can enter any ID number you want, even if you have never viewed the profile ever, click GO and go directly to that profile. The heading reads as if you can only enter the name or ID number of a recently viewed person but that is not the case. It can be absolutely any ID number.

Just in case you are staring at your screen and can't find the Find By ID number that Alan mentions, you choose Find in the Family Tree menu:

    Which brings you here:

where you can click on the Find by ID tab to change it to this:

If you happen to have the Find results list already open as in the image below, it also has the Find by ID tab and you can switch to it:

This last screen is kind of handy if you are looking for multiple people. You can put in the first ID and click Search. In the results list, right-click on the person's name to open the profile in a new tab, then after checking what you need to, close that tab to come right back to the results list and enter your next ID number.

I'll just mention as a reminder, just in case it is part of your frustration with searching, that you have to use FIND to find people in Family Tree. SEARCH is to find historical record sources and other resources and there is no Find By ID option under Search because sources do not have ID numbers.

They have included a Family Tree option in the Search menu which does take you to the same Find routine so you can get to FIND through either menu.
