What do you do with dates in unfinished attachments?
I'm not sure where the best place to ask this question is but I had someone recently ask me what to do with dates that show up as unfinished attachments? I tried searching knowledge articles but couldn't find anything about dates. Anyone know if there is any significance to a date that shows up as an unfinished attchement on the source linker page?

A couple of suggestions that may or may not help are as follows:
Enter approximate dates into Family Tree • FamilySearch This link to a help article provides some guidelines if the issue of the “unfinished attachment” has to do with not knowing the exact date. At the end of the article several additional links to “Related articles” are also listed.
Unfinished attachments in Family Tree • FamilySearch This link to another help article is specific to unfinished attachments which may or may not be directly tied to the “dates that show up”. At the bottom of this help article there are also links to additional “Related articles” which may or may not be helpful.
At very least I hope some of the links and/or information provided in these help articles may provide answers to the person’s question(s). Good luck!

I'm not sure what you mean by dates that show up as unfinished attachments………. Unfinished attachments in FamilySearch identify historical records (like censuses) attached to some individuals but not all of the people listed. There are a few steps to resolve unfinished attachments. Go to the person's profile and click the sources tab, and locate the unfinished attachments alert. Click the alert to open the tool comparing the record to your tree and use the source linker to attach the record to the people in your tree. Often, there will be people listed in the record who are not a part of the family, such as boarders. You can either ignore this alert, or dismiss it in this case. Let us know if you still have questions!

@Bruchele Cleverly If there is a date showing up as a person to be attached it is likely the error is found in the indexing/record details. Source Linker may be working as designed to help you complete the attachments. If you send an example we can help you determine the best resolution.
