I am hearing that FamilySearch is going to allow videos to be uploaded; is this true? If so, what will be the guidelines? Thank you

Where did you here that? Over the years I've heard that the architecture would support video, but I've heard nothing recently beyond that nonspecific hint of future possibilities.

Content review for videos would be a something I'd think might be next to impossible [well… not impossible, but really really hard]

As of February 2026, FamilySearch does not currently allow direct video uploads to the Memories gallery. While the organization has expressed hope to accept video in the future, FamilySearch has cited the lack of a reliable way to screen video files for appropriateness before they become visible as a primary reason for the current restriction.

That is what I always heard, too, Alan and Mark, but two people in the Los Angeles FSC said they heard it. One of them is our current Director, so I thought I would ask. Thank you for answering.

This type of interest is important to share—so I'm glad you did.

Yes, you've heard that it isn't currently available—that is correct. The Memories Team has no current plans to make it available, but it is something they think about.

Once we get word that it is coming (if it comes), we will certainly let everyone know. And we will provide all the guidelines at that time of release. Thanks!
