Looking for the parents of Hezekiah S Williams (1814-1893), my third great grandfather. Wife was Nancy B Simons (1815-1866). Lived in the Orford and Piermont, NH areas. Moulton M Williams was mentioned as possible father but not verified! (1792-1829)

@Everette J It is frustrating when the records for our ancestors illude us. I am assuming that you are speaking of GSL6-BLB Hezekiah Williams. Have you searched for Moulton M. Williams in obituary, probate, land, tax or census records 1820-1830? I see there is only one source attached to Moulton. Unfortunately, we may need to look for sources for Mounton Williams in order to prove whether he is the right person or not. Some of the above mentioned sources should mention a spouse and hopefully children as well.

Please let me know how your search goes. If none of these record types turn up any additional clues there are other resources..

    Happy Hunting…..

    Hi @Everette J,

I did a little searching on both FamilySearch and Ancestry and it looks like you have quite the challenge on your hands. On both sites I was only able to find the death records that you already have attached to Moulton Williams with his name, Moulton Williams. I saw that in the county of Grafton, New Hampshire there are multiple people with the surname of Moulton. I am wondering if Moulton was his middle name instead of his first name? Have you ever tried the full text search on FamilySearch? In case you haven't I have a brief tutorial here to show you what came up when I did a full text search for the son Hezekiah Williams. You find full text search in the search dropdown box.

At first I just put in the name of Hezekiah Williams, the place of Grafton, New Hampshire, United States and a year range of 1810 to 1895.

Here are the results that came up.

Full text search is not perfect and a lot of these results don't actually have your ancestor in them at all. In order to narrow the search I did a search edit and put Hezekiah Williams in quotes.

    full text search 3.png

I now only have 35 results to read through and it looks like most of them are actually your Hezekiah Williams. The majority of the records appear to be land records.

Something to keep in mind while looking at records from full text search. These records are AI transcribed and there are some errors in the transcriptions. I would recommend opening each record and reading the original document. I hope this might help you come closer to finding your answers. Good Luck!
