Records for Vaihingen auf den Fildern are all getting labled as Vaihingen an der Enz.
Vaihingen auf den Fildern is a village which was formerly outside the Stuttgart city limits, but which is now a village within Stuttgart. It's located on the river Fildern.
Vaihingen an der Enz is an entirely different village on a different river — the Enz. It's about 43km by road from one to the other.
I am seeing MANY records giving the "old" location as Vaihingen auf den Fildern and the "current" location as Vaihingen an der Enz. And even when I force it to Vaihingen auf den Fildern, the era-specific names for Vaihingen ADF seem way out of wack. 1850? Nope.
Worse, everybody in these two villages had the same names — Elsaesser, Grieb, Johann, Gottlieb, Rosina, Katharina, Paulina…. — so people have mixed up family trees from Vaihingen ADF with families from Vaihingen an der Enz. (I've sorted them out when I've come across them, but gee, nontrivial!
My mother's father's folks came from Vaihingen ADF; we have photos, postcards, letters. As far as can find, we have no connection to Vaihingen an der Enz. And for crying out loud, even the rivers have different genders.

So — how to fix this?

@PatriciaJH As you can see in the record details, these records were indexed correctly in German as Vaihingen auf den Fildern. I assume that's what you meant by the "old location" and yes, the current location is incorrect. The error was duplicated during an automated standardization. Our engineers are working on a way to restore original indexed place names in all of our collections and this will be done with a bulk load and not film by film. I will document this so it can be checked when the procedure is implemented. Thanks for your feedback!
