Help with ancestor (1783)

Hello! I'm reaching out because I've hit a bit of a dead end in my research on the Collante/Collantes Family in Chile. As I delved deeper, I discovered that the earliest member of the family in my records is Rafael Collantes (ID: LYJM-TD1). He was apparently born in 1783 in Spain and later moved to Chile, where he married. However, this information seems to come from another user who is no longer active on this site. Although Rafael Collantes has attached 25 sources, none of them tell me where he was born, why he left Europe, or who his parents were. To find more details about him in Spain's archives, I need some help to figure this out. I would be very grateful for any advice or suggestions. Thank you so much for your time and consideration.

All the best,

Rea

@Rea72945 I would start by reviewing the FamilySearch Wiki pages on Spain and or Chile. There are many good ideas to assist in your research.

    PARES

In this portal you can find many kinds documents, including passengers to the Indies up to the late 1700s. PARES is the online search catalog in which you may be able to locate items held in the collections of the national archives of Spain. PARES is not a comprehensive tool, but it is a useful resource to try finding information on your ancestors.
