Color images of New York City death records are available, free, on the New York City site: https://a860-historicalvitalrecords.nyc.gov/search
On FamilySearch, the black and white images are restricted to view at a FamilySearch Center only.

are new york city death records searchable with full text search? if not, how can i ask for them to be put in the queue so they will become searchable with full text search sooner rather than later?

And, if I recall correctly, they are full-text searchable when at the FamilySearch Center. I'll verify when I go later this week.
