When EDIT is grayed out, how to suggest corrections

I have found quite a few errors to the index information provided for Italian records in several comunes. I take the index information then go out to the Portale Antenati and find the image of the actual document that was indexed to confirm.

An example:

Marriage Index https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:X33W-77TF?lang=en

Actual Marriage Record: https://antenati.cultura.gov.it/ark:/12657/an_ua36302744/wjMgN4m

Groom's place of birth is incorrect and the certificate number of the actual document is wrong on the index. The Edit is grayed out. This is not the only example,

There should at least be a way for a FS user to make a note alerting other users of an indexing problem even if the index itself does not get changed. Maybe a NOTE function in an index entry. Am I missing a place where this can be done?

When the image is not on FamilySearch, we cannot edit the index because it would be impossible to verify if the error is in the index or in the original record.

If you have used the index to find the record on Antenati, it has served its purpose: an index is a finding aid. And, if you attach the index to a profile in the FamilySearch tree, you can put a note on the source and on the profile highlighting the difference between the index and the record.

Áine.ní.Donnghaile - the image is in FamilySearch - DGS 100360293, image 49 - but access is restricted (you can't even see it if you are at a FS Center or FS Affiliate Library). That's the frustrating part of all these AI transcriptions of Italian records that have been brought into the database. There's simply no mechanism to correct the thousands of errors from AI incorrectly transcribing names, dates, etc.

Yes - I should have said if the image is not viewable from home - unrestricted.
In some cases, we can edit the index while viewing at the FSC or AL, but not always.
