Why have so many records gone missing?

I am so disappointed that Familysearch has removed so many records. Why have they done this? I have seen something about contracts, but why have all these contracts gone at the same time? What can be done? People from a country like mine that has gone through colonisation and slavery were able to find solace in the fact they we could trace somewhat of a family history now most marriage and death records are gone. A connection to our origin lost again.

@MMarchT can you give us some additional details? What country's records do you want access to?

I am running into the same issue. I am trying to access birth/marriage/death records (One example being IGN 4519888), and I keep getting an image restricted message. It doesn't even tell me if this is something that I can access from my local FamilySearch Center (which the nearest one to me is always closed and does not respond to phone calls or messages).
