I believe the below year date is an error and should read 1805.

The marriage took place at St Botolph's Aldersgate London on 27 November 1805.

I cannot correct it and I have not found a way to report it.

    Help welcome.

    Gordon Hughes

@gordonHughes3 Hi, as this collection is an index only, it is not possible to make edits as there is no primary source to reference. However, the original record is available to view on Ancestry and that record is also indexed as 27 November 1825 (I don't have a paid subscription to view the image of the record, but that would be worth looking at. You can do this via many public libraries for free, if you do not have a paid subscription yourself).

    It's possible that either:

    a) The couple you are researching married later than you thought.

or, b) This is not the same couple.

There is also the possibility that the Mary Ann that your George Hughes was married to was not a Brown. There is a marriage between a George Henry Hughes and Mary Ann Greenwood on the 22 August 1809 in Whitechapel, Middlesex and a George Hughes and Mary Ann Lucas in Lambeth, Surrey on the 2 July 1815 (though that one is attributed to a couple in the tree already) that may be worth further investigation.

If it's of significant importance to you, it may also be worth acquiring Mary Ann's death record to see if it has anymore light to shed on the matter. Going by the details your have on her profile, the below is the reference to the death record in question. The General Register Office will supply a Jpeg for £3.

MARY ANN HUGHES, Aged 73, GRO Reference: 1859  D Quarter in GREENWICH  Volume 01D  Page 415

I have checked the image on Ancestry and George Hughes and Mary Ann Brown married at St Botolph's, Aldersgate, London, on 27 Nov 1825. The year is written out six times on the pair of pages.

I can find no 1805 version on Ancestry.
