Immigration from China to Australia

This is another question regarding my relative, William See (MWMN-PF4). I was able to obtain his Alien Registration card, which indicated that he arrived in Brisbane from Canton in June 1886. His naturalization application says April 1884, but June 1886 is the more likely date.

I also found out that William was baptized into the Church of England in 1890, when he took the Christian name William.

In neither of these documents is his original name noted in characters. Only the name “Mah” or “Mar” See. I’ve had no luck with his passenger arrival records, due to the destruction of those records in a flood. Does anyone know of any documentation that might exist that would contain his name in characters? Any help for this search would be appreciated.
