Records on India Online Genealogy Records/ Family Search

Hi there,

I’m hoping you can help me with a question regarding some records I previously found using the India Online Genealogy Records collection on FamilySearch.

I had downloaded several records in the past, but I’m now unable to see or access them again. I’ve attached one of the records I previously downloaded, which contains a link to the original web page. However, when I click the link now, it displays a message stating that “no record has been found.”

Could you please confirm whether records are sometimes removed or amended over time? I’ve noticed this issue with several records, not just one example.

I’ve followed the troubleshooting instructions provided on your website, but the issue persists. While I can open the page, the records no longer display names or details — it simply says “no indexes found.” Previously, the right-hand side showed names and dates. Additionally, records that I could once locate via the search function (for example, Angelina Fernandes – Death Record) now no longer appear in search results - Link that is attached on PDF record

Could you please clarify:

  1. Whether FamilySearch removes or restricts access to records over time, and
  2. If there’s any way to recover or locate these previously available records?

Thank you for your help.

Kind regards,

@Eddie3257 I was unable to open the link in your post so I don't know the date on the death record, but it is likely this is a recent and valid restriction. India is one of the countries now being updated by Rights Management, meaning that these records are not legally able to be shown according to the contractual agreement with FamilySearch.

thank you for your response, are you able to advise how I would legally get access to these records now?

@Eddie3257 Can you share the collection and what records specifically you are trying to access?
