If you have at least the approximate date of Baptism (year and month) or even just the year, you can then narrow this down. The images show a book in numerical date order. The first section is a name index with page numbers to the record, and the majority of the book is baptism in date order. This is the only way on this image I can see to shorten your search.

As more and more DGS become full-text search-enabled, it gets even easier. That DGS is not yet available in full-text format.
If you look in thumbnail view, you'll see that the DGS has several registers. The one covering 1877 begins on Image 111.
At the beginning of that register, there is a soft index of the names contained in the register.
You'll find the "V" section of the index on Image 127, with James Vaughan's baptism listed as being on Page 22 of the register. https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-C9BF-L35W-RAnd Page 22 of the register is on Image 154. James Thomas Vaughan is the 6th name:

With a little practice, finding the correct page within an unindexed register is fairly quick and easy.Hope this helps.

Thank you. I did try to search based on year etc. but got lost. Unfortunately the "scribes" did not always put the year on every page. So I tried to look at Dec /Jan where they did sometimes put the year.
Thanks will persevere with your knowledge you have provided.
Regards.
