Why is Filae listed as an affiliate, when it NEVER works?
I used to have a subscription to Filae and know how useful it can be. I let my membership lapse because it didn't have any more sources for my ancestors.
Now it does. (I'm on their mailing list) However, after creating a church member account, I can never get in. I have also tried to access Filae from the Family Search Centre, using the Institution version, and it just keeps asking the patron to sign up for a subscription.
This has been an ongoing issue ever since Filae appeared as an affiliate. Either it should be working or it should be removed. Right now its just a disappointment.

Filae is an affiliated site and can be accessed for free, but you still have to sign up for an account, and then you will have access as per the information contained at the Affiliate page.

@Liane Lyle
I just tested Filae, from the FamilySearch platform, and had no problem accessing records from France.2 -
@sc woz I am confused here. The link you provided as Affiliate page for me (not a church member) clicked through to a link about FamilySearch Centers. Are you saying Filae is available to the public at FamilySearch Centers?
@Áine Ní Donnghaile when you say FamilySearch platform, is this something for church members, or the Portal available at FamilySearch Centers
I searched in Help for Affiliate, the only search results were for Affiliate Libraries, so is that what that what this topic is about?

Filae is not on the list of Premium websites available through the Portal extension while at a FamilySearch Center. https://www.familysearch.org/en/wiki/FamilySearch%5FCenter%5FPortal
At the time I tested, I was at home, searching from a profile in the FS tree of an ancestor born in France.

A little bit of confusion here for me. In your original post, you write, "However, after creating a church member account, I can never get in." With this type of account, the Filae site can be accessed for free, but you still have to sign up for an account, and then you will have access as per the information contained at the Affiliate page. The page should have this on it
When you click the join for free button, it will ask you to sign up for an account and will then be attached to your "account".
However, if you do not have this type of account as referenced in your second response, "The link you provided as Affiliate page for me (not a church member)" then, as Áine Ní Donnghaile explains above it is not a free account.
Hope this helps.
