emails to nothing
I keep getting these emails along the lines of "Review this record to see if this is your 3rd great-grandfather's information" from reply@e .familysearch.org.
When I click on the link I get "That’s strange! We don’t currently have any record hints for you. Would you like to try one of our other Family History Activities?"
Is this a scam? Oops! I did click on a link pointing to a website that might be FamilySearch.
I am thinking this is never going to get me anywhere.

@Terry1778 I would treat these as FS marketing emails (aimed mostly at simply getting you on to the FS site). You can unsubscribe completely from them if you want.

My best guesses for the incompetent mismatch between "Here's a possible match…" and "Oh there isn't one…" are either:
- The algorithms to detect possible matches are different between the mailing campaign and the real genealogy or…
- The mailing messages are created at one time and only released much later by which time the supporting evidence that it might be a match has disappeared.
Either way, I just try to treat these are marketing spam and stop them entirely as Mandy suggests.
